Mangaluru: A day after former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his will to become a Chief Minister once again in the state, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) President Dinesh Gundu Rao on Saturday, claimed that he was not aware of Siddarramaiah’s statement.

“I have not seen television channels and I do not know the context in which he said that,” Dinesh Gundu Rao said.

Addressing a press meet here in DCC office, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “As I know, he(Siddaramaiah) is not thinking of becoming Chief Minister again. Siddaramaiah himself has claimed that he will not contest the next elections. Anyway, I don’t know the context, hence I would not comment.”

“In the interest of the state, the Congress has formed a coalition government along with the JD(S), this government will complete five years. We have written papers that we will give full support to this government” Rao added.

Replying to queries of reporters that Siddaramaiah has claimed that few people from the party have joined hands to defeat him, Gundu Rao said, “In a democracy, it is possible that few vested interests may join hands to defeat him. However, he had not specified that the individuals are from the Congress party itself. It can mean that he is implying to say that someone outside the party has been doing this. Do not twist and give new meaning to a statement” he said.

On the question that Congress has not appointed the candidate for general elections from Dakshina Kannada, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “Presently party has not started discussing about the party candidates for the parliament elections.”

Taking a dig at the ruling BJP at the center, Rao said, “The BJP has put the country at jeopardy. The BJP which came to power claiming development and making a revolution in the country has failed miserably.”

He also slammed the BJP MPs in the state for their alleged failures in development of the state.

Rao also said that in the month of September the coalition government will go for cabinet expansion and fill all the vacant positions in the government.

Alleging that PM Narendra Modi is protecting Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, Gundu Rao said, “Narendra Modi is a paper tiger protecting a corrupt people.”
