Sullia: The body of a 52-year-old lady, who went missing in the Jodupala tragedy, was found near a bridge at the lower end of a waterfall near Jodupala on Friday, August 24.

The deceased has been identified as Gowramma, the wife of Basappa and volunteer for the government’s ‘Asha’ scheme at Madenadu. Her body was found when a tree was being cleared near the bridge. Her body was moved to the mortuary at a government hospital by the rescue team.

Basappa, an employee of Sullia government hospital, died on August 17, after landslides caused his and two other houses to collapse. While Basappa’s body was found near his house soon after the disaster on August 18, and the body of Monisha, Basappa’s daughter, was found on August 19, the bodies of his wife and his niece, Manjula were untraceable.

The search for Manjula, Basappa’s niece is still ongoing. She was a tenth standard student of a government high school in Madenadu and resided at her uncle’s house.
