Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district unit of the Congress organised victory celebration in front of district Congress office after the party succeeded to get a tremendous win in the by-elections on Tuesday, November 6.
The celebration was organised under the leadership of MLC Ivan D’Souza. Addressing the party he said, “the result of by-election shows that people of Karnataka have accepted the coalition of the Congress and the JDS parties and its governance in the state. As the Congress and the JDS have fielded candidates with mutual understanding, they secured victory with highest votes. It is a big blow to the opposition party- BJP“, he said.
Ivan also stated that the result of by-election would definitely impact the upcoming Lok Sabha election. “The Congress would secure 26 seats out of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies and national president of Congress Rahul Gandhi would definitely become the next Prime Minister of our country“, he said.
The party workers and supporters distributed sweets and burst crackers on the occasion. Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Deputy Mayor Mohammed K, leaders Nazir Bajal, Kodijal Ibrahim among others were present.
JDS celebration
As JDS-Congress alliance has secured huge win in bypolls, Dakshina Kannada district JDS workers also organised victory celebration in front of their party office in Bendoorwell on Tuesday, November 6.
The party workers burst crackers and distributed sweets to the public. After the celebration, leaders of JDS claimed that the results of the by-election is an indicator for the people’s acceptance of the coalition government. Though the BJP had attempted to win the election by spreading false allegation against the government, their efforts did not yield positive result, they stressed.
