Mangaluru: In order to mount pressure on the union government to restart the four-laning work of Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway, the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee will be holding a huge padayatra (protest march) from Nelyadi to B C Road from January 14 to 16.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office on Saturday, January 12, former minister Ramanatha Rai said, “Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader will inaugurate the 42-km padayatra from Nelyadi Bus stand at around 9 AM. During the padayatra, over 15 km distance will be covered each day and it will reach B C Road at around 4.30 PM on January 16. KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao will deliver the valedictory address”, he informed.
“Padayatra will be organised with the tagline of ‘complete the highway work quickly and save the lives of people’. If the highway work is not completed by next monsoon, people will suffer a lot”, he stressed.
