Mangaluru: “The urban naxalism activities are more dangerous than that of the outlawed naxalites. This is because the urban naxals always instigate violence among the young minds”, said Raghunandan, South Regional Convener of Prajna Pravah, an RSS affiliate organisation, on Saturday. January 12.
Addressing a gathering during a seminar on ‘Urban Naxalism’ organised jointly by the Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat and ‘Manthana Mangaluru’ at the Sharada Vidyalaya auditorium, Kodialbail, Raghunandan said, “When a naxal is arrested, the urban naxals extend judicial support to them, which is a very dangerous practice. If naxals oppose the development of villages and empowerment of youth, fearing lack of support from the rural people, the urban naxals provoke youth to indulge in violence”, he said.
Raghunandan openly stated that the ruling Congress party supports urban naxalism even though they are aware that it is “destructive.” “In order to counter urban naxalism, there is a need to create strong guidelines against those who openly support naxalites and violence. Stringent action should be taken against those who oppose development”, he said.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad Regional President M B Puranik and Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat District Secretary Ramesh K were present.
