Mangaluru: In a recent development on Sunday, March 3, customs officials at the international airport in the city successfully confiscated gold worth Rs 45,92,700, weighing 729 grams, that was being smuggled by a passenger.

The individual, hailing from Kasargod, arrived at the airport on an Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi. Upon subjecting the passenger to body frisking, authorities discovered that the gold was concealed in paste form within three egg-shaped envelopes hidden in his rectum. The customs officials promptly took the person into custody.
