Mangaluru: The district administration will make a decision on lockdown relaxations on Thursday, after a high-level meeting comprising the MP, MLAs and senior officials of the district, informed district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
It can be recalled that the state government allowed certain relaxations in the state from Thursday onwards, in areas that have not been identified as containment zones.
Minister Kota, on Wednesday, said that since the Dakshina Kannada district has been identified as a COVID-19 hotspot by the Central Government, the district administration will have to be careful while relaxing the lockdown.
He added that the issue will also have to be discussed with the leaders of the fishermen community as it is difficult to maintain social distancing in the fisheries sector as more than 2000 people generally gather for these activities.
The Minister also added that a decision will also be taken on allowing Garage, Dhaba, Courier Services, Plumbers, Electricians and Carpenters to operate during the ongoing lockdown.
