Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary urged Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to start a helpline number for those Kannadigas who are stranded in different states due to the ongoing lockdown.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, April 22, Kota said, ”After the lockdown was announced, many Kannada speaking people were trapped in different places, especially in Mumbai. The government should take certain measures to meet their basic necessities. Hence, I met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and the chief secretary of state today to find a solution for the grievances of these people. I also urged them to set up a helpline for them.”

Meanwhile, Kota informed that Bantwal town has been sealed down after a 50-year-old woman from the area succumbed to coronavirus.

“If anyone has symptoms of COVID-19, they should approach the fever clinics in the district. Private hospitals also should inform the taluk hospitals if they come across anyone with problems like respiratory issues, cough, fever etc., ” he added.
