Dakshina Kannada reports 180 new COVID cases, eight deaths

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, July 24, reported 180 new COVID-19 positive cases and eight deaths (including two from another district) as a result of the disease.

According to the bulletin released by the district administration, the five deceased are a 44-year-old man from Mangaluru (died on July 22), 56-year-old man from Mangaluru (died on July 23), 67-year-old man from Bhadravati in Shivamogga (died on July 23), 42-year-old man from Bantwal (died on July 23), a 67-year-old man from Bhadravati in Shivamogga (died on July 23), a 75-year-old woman from Mangaluru (died on July 23), a 65-year-old woman from Mangaluru (died on July 23), and a 61-year-old woman from Puttur (died on July 23).

Additionally, the bulletin states that there are a total of 4,394 positive cases in the district, of which 2,300 are active.

On a positive note, 125 people were discharged after making a full recovery. So far, 1,987 people have been discharged.

As many as 31,909 samples have been tested so far for COVID-19.
