DC Senthil visits site of collapsed bridge in Bantwal

Bantwal: A team of officials, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sasikant Senthil on Tuesday, June 26, visited the site where the bridge across the Phalguni river collapsed in Mullarapatnam near here.

The bridge at Mullarapatnam collapsed on Monday evening causing a disruption in the link between Bantwal and Mangaluru North. The district administration has taken stalk of the situation.

Jagadish Alva, the Vice President of the Aral Gram Panchayat asked the DC to make a bus stand to facilitate travel between the Mangaluru and Bantwal taluks.

Locals also informed the officials that they had informed the department concerned about the condition of the bridge in 2017 and that nothing was done.

The DC assured of arrangements for the bus travel between Mangaluru and Bantwal and movement of light vehicles soon.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikant Senthil, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Dr. M R Ravi, Assistant Commissioner of Mangaluru subdivision Renuka Prasad, Bantwal Tahsildar Santosh G, PWD engineers Umesh Bhat, Ravi Kumar and RTO John Misquith were present.
