Moodbidri: Two dengue cases have been detected in Ashraya colony in Alangaru 3rd ward.

The dengue affected are identified as Kamala(60) and Jayanthi(30). A medical test was conducted soon after they were affected by fever.

Suspecting dengue, doctors sent the patients to Moodbidri Health centre. After blood test, it was learnt that the patients had contracted dengue.

The blood samples have been sent to District health centre for test and confirmation of the disease, said Dr Shashikala. After this incident, health centre staff visited the colony and took blood samples from some of the residents in the colony and also gave info regarding keeping the surroundings clean.

Municipal staff also sprayed chemicals to prevent mosquitoes in and around the colony.

The suspected dengue patients are undergoing treatment at Moodbidri Health centre.

The workers here are without proper living or sanitary conditions, and  accommodate themselves in temporary shacks or huts with filthy surroundings, say the locals.
