Mangaluru: The police department has filed a suo moto case against an individual on charges of posting derogatory comments against Police Commissioner Murugan on Facebook.
The offender has been identified as Akbar. He is said to be employed abroad.
Murugan drew huge flak from the Muslim community, especially the youth after he imposed a ban on Islam religious speaker Dr Zakir Naik’s visit to Mangaluru.
Dr Naik was supposed to deliver the keynote address at a programme to be organized by the South Kanara Salafi Movement on January 3.
