Mangaluru: The Diocese of Mangalore expresses profound sorrow over the recent events that transpired within the premises of Christ the King Parish in Manela, Periyaltadka.
“We extend our sincerest apologies for the unfortunate incidents that occurred on February 29, 2024, causing distress to those affected and the community at large.
Recognizing that this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the country’s law enforcement agencies, the Diocese pledges full cooperation with the authorities in their investigations. In addition to the ongoing governmental inquiries, the Diocese will also conduct canonical investigations to ascertain the truth of the matter and determine appropriate actions for the future in a just and equitable manner,” the diocese has expressed in a press release.
“In response to these developments, the implicated priest will be removed from the religious ministry at Christ the King Church, Manila, Periyaltadka, with immediate effect. A replacement will be appointed to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation during this period of transition.
The Diocese of Mangalore remains committed to upholding the principles of justice, compassion, and accountability within our community. We will continue to work diligently to ensure the well-being and dignity of all individuals under our care,” it further said.
