Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Bharatiya Janata Party committee has demanded an apology from the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi for levying allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Rafale fighter jet deal, in which the Supreme Court has given the government a clean chit.

Speaking to the reporters at district BJP office on Saturday, December 22, district BJP Spokesperson Jithendra Kottary said the Supreme Court had dismissed all the petitions seeking a direction to the CBI to register an FIR on the alleged irregularities in the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France and said there was no occasion to doubt the decision-making process in the multi-billion dollar defence deal. “Hence, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress should apologise to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to the whole country for making false allegations against him and questioning his credibility,” he added.

Jithendra Kottary, placing some queries to the Congress, said, “Though the Air Force listed its various demands including the need of fighter jets why Congress government did not take any measures to purchase fighter jets between 2007 and 2014? If it is really concerned about the nation, why the demands of military force fell on the deaf ears?”, he questioned and added that Rahul Gandhi should reveal who had given the information of Rafale fighter jets, although it was very confidential.

BJP leaders Nithin Kumar, Sathish and Sanjay Prabhu among others were present.
