Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District BJP condemned the “damaging” statement of MLC Ivan D’Souza on MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and cautioned, “Ivan would not be able to touch even a Nalin Kumar Kateel’s hair.”
Ivan D’Souza had made a statement on Tuesday, January 9 that Congress would tear strip MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and pull him around, if he was unable to prevent the merger of Vijay Bank with Bank of Baroda. Pointing out the statement of Ivan, district BJP spokesperson Jithendra Kottary on Wednesday, January 9, said , “Ivan has no morality to question MP Nalin Kumar Kateel as he won with a huge margin of 1.4 lakh votes during the last Lok Sabha elections. But, Ivan has not tasted victory in even a Taluk Panchayat election. He was voted to power not by the public but he entered politics through the backdoor”, he blamed.
Jithendra Kottary informed that BJP has not kept mum with regard to the merger of banks as claimed by Congress leaders. “MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje and Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda have already met with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and urged him revoke the decision of merging Vijaya Bank with any other banks. “As Congress has no major issues to seek the votes from the public in the coming Lok Sabha elections, it is simply making baseless allegations against BJP”, he said.
Condemning state government for not extending any cooperation to the developmental works of central government Jithendra Kottary said, “As state government did not take any measures to provide No Objection Certificates (NoC) from the forest department and did not take any measures to land acquisition, the four-laning work between Adda Hole to B C Road has been stalled. The work on the national highway between Kulashekhar and Moodbidri is also delayed for the same reason”, he said.
BJP leaders Sanjay prabhu, Premananda Shetty, Ramanna among others were present.
