Mangaluru: District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Tuesday, May 18 said that the district administration is likely to provide boiled rice under the Public Distribution System in Dakshina Kannada.
Minister organised meeting along with five MLAs and Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation vice president Kiran Kumar Kodgi, and officials of the food and agriculture department to draw an outline to provide boiled rice to the public.
Addressing the media after a meeting held in DC office he said, “We have drafted guidelines based on an 80:20 ratio, which means that 8 kg of boiled rice will be allocated for every 2 kg of white rice. Both for the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. The union government has refused to provide subsidies for different types of red boiled rice. As a result, we will send various varieties of boiled rice to the union government and request accreditation from them, which will allow us to purchase and process the boiled rice. This procedure could take three months,” he added.
