Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district Muslim League and Muslim Youth League have condemned the recent incident of illegal cattle transporting at Mundaje in Beltangady taluk and urged the police department to take stringent action against the offenders.
District Organising Secretary of Muslim Youth League Hidayat Maripalla told mediapersons here on Monday, June 10 that their religious book Quran does not preach indulgence in illegal activities. “Anybody involving in illegal activities is not a true Muslim. Hence, the whole Muslim community is against the illegal transportation of cattle. Police should not buckle under any pressure and initiate stringent action against the culprits”, he said.
Citing the incident of cattle being transported in an inhuman way at Mundaje, Hidayat said that the Muslim community would never support such illegal activities that often lead to communal violence too. “If the police fail to prevent illegal cattle transportation, the Muslim Youth League would stage a strong protest in the next coming days”, he warned.
Meanwhile, Hidayat admitted that illegal cattle transportation thrived as there was no ban on cow slaughtering. “If the government imposes a ban on cow slaughtering, Muslim Youth League would be in the forefront to welcome such a decision”, Hidayat informed.
Members Hyder Sullia, General Secretary Shabeer Thalapady among others were present.
