Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has directed the migrant labourers not to venture out of their shelter, violating the lockdown norms.

The DC has instead said that all arrangements will be made soon to drop them back at their native places.

It may be recalled that scores of migrant workers gathered outside Town Hall on Tuesday after rumours spread that the district administration has made arrangements to drop them to their native villages.

While gathering at the Town Hall, none of them were wearing masks and no social distancing norms were followed.

Considering this, Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh informed that officials would gather all information about the migrant labourers area-wise.

Later, district administration will intimate the workers about how and when they will ferried to their native villages.

“No migrant workers must venture out of the shelter till intimation from the district administration,” said the DC.
