Mangaluru: Congressman and former union minister Janardhan Poojary congratulated the newly formed Bihar government over its landmark victory and said that the result was a great lesson for all the political parties including the Congress.
At a press meet held at the Congress party office in Mangaluru on Monday, November 9, Poojary said that hate politics and rising intolerance in the country was primarily responsible for the BJP’s poll debacle. He said that it was high time that both the state and the central governments mended their ways and worked towards maintaining peace and tranquility.
Taking a jibe at the Sangh Parivar, Poojary said that it should sooner rather than later, give up fanaticism. “Asking Muslims to migrate to Pakistan is ridiculous. If the BJP government continues supporting it, the Modi led government would be dusted off soon,” he opined.
Speaking in support of BJP member and actor Shatrugan Sinha, Poojary said that Sinha is a clean person and that whatever he stated made absolute sense. The veteran actor had on Sunday termed the grand alliance’s victory in Bihar polls as “victory of democracy” and took a swipe at the BJP top brass, saying the issue of “Bihari versus Bahri” had been settled once and for all. According to reports, the BJP is now mulling to sack Sinha for taking potshots at the party for the way it conducted the campaign in Bihar.
Don’t destroy Karnataka for Moily, Gowda
Poojary once again warned the State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to shelve the Yettinahole project stating that it would not only put Dakshina Kannada under threat but will also be of no use to the drought hit districts in the state. “The project is just a plot to fill the pockets of Union Minister Veerappa Moily and former Karnataka CM DV Sadananda Gowda. Do not risk the state to appease the two politicians,” he said.
Justifying the government’s move to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, Poojary said that it was a good decision as Tipu was a patriot and that the Hindus and Christians had to be enlightened about his achievements and get them rid of the misconception that he was a fanatic.
