Dowry harassment complaint, woman seeks justice

Mangaluru: Keerthi Pai, a victim of the 6th JMFC court in Mangalore, has lodged a complaint, accusing her husband and his family of subjecting her to physical and mental harassment for dowry.

Originally from Kasargod, Kerala, she resides in the city with her husband Chetan V, a private pharmaceutical employee. The case involves accusations against, sister-in-law Chaitra V Bhakta, mother-in-law Poornima Bhakta, and father-in-law Venugopal Bhakta.

The complainant, married on December 18, 2022, in Mangaluru, has lodged a complaint with the 6th JMFC court in Mangalore under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act. She alleges that her family members, initially appearing amicable, turned suspicious over time and subsequently subjected her to mental harassment and physical abuse in an attempt to extort more dowry.
