Mangaluru: Ecolink Institute of Well-being in collaboration with the Colombo Plan-Drug Advisory Programme, Sri Lanka has started its second batch of students in Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) on Substance Use Disorder Management on November 3. The course will end by March 22.
Becky Vaughn, Director of the Global Center for Credentialing & Certification (GCCC), United States opened the online training course, which is attended by 40 professionals from 11 countries. The Chief Guest, Becky said that there is tremendous scope for addiction professionals in the world as the number of substance users is going higher according to the UNODC survey report published in 2020.
Dr.Thomas Scaria, Director of the Institute said the training course is a globally recognized course developed by the Colombo Plan and the US Government which is imparted in more than 62 countries currently. “Those completing the five months course from Ecolink and possess practical clinical experience can apply for the International credentialing under GCCC as Internationally Recognized Addiction Professional (ICAP) which is recognized globally.
The course has 8 curriculums and 48 modules which are imparted through live sessions by Colombo Plan and UN-recognized global trainers. The participants include Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Counsellors, and recovery coaches who are working in the addiction treatment field.
The current group of participants is from various states of India, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Mexico, the US, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and various African countries. Dr. Thirmagal and Aditi Ghanekar, global trainers were present on the occasion.
