Mangaluru: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed shortly between Dakshina Kannada district unit of National Urban Health Mission and few private hospitals of the city in operating evening clinics under Urban Health Care Centres in December. Three private hospitals have signed this MoU to extend their support in providing effective health care in several areas.
AJ Hospital and Research Center will start an evening clinic at Shakthinagar and Kuloor while Yenepoya Hospital will start theirs at Bunder and K S Hegde Hospital will open their evening clinic in Yekkur area. According to the private – public partnership in this initiative, the private hospital will assign a physician to their respective evening clinics while the Government will assign two nurses for the same.
Dr. Sadashiv, the Project Management Officer for NUHM Dakshina Kannada district spoke about the move at a health department review meeting conducted at DC office on Monday, December 5. “Evening clinics will benefit general public and will operate just like a regular physician’s clinic. Basic treatment will be provided to the public and follow up of the treatment will be suggested”, Dr. Sadashiv added.
The evening clinics which will open by December end will provide primary treatment and collect blood samples.
Blue coloured salt is not harmful: Khadar
After the announcement of evening clinics was made, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khadar spoke about the recent issue of ration shop distributed salt being blue in colour. “Awareness regarding this matter should be given to the public by health officers. Blue coloured salt distributed in ration shops have been tested and proven non-poisonous”, Khadar added.
