Kasaragod: The state government on Monday declared Kerala as drought-hit. Revenue Minister E Chandrashekharan made the announcement in the assembly today while stating that low rainfall is the reason for the drought. There is a deficit of 34 per cent in the north-west monsoon and 69% in the north-east monsoons.
Even if heavy rain lashes in the months of November and December, the state will have to face drought, he said.
