Mangaluru: Harish Acharya, a former Syndicate member of Mangalore University, has called upon the university to release a white paper detailing its financial situation. In a statement on Monday, March 4, Mr. Acharya expressed concern over the delayed salaries of guest teachers and temporary non-teaching staff in the university and its affiliated institutions.
According to Mr. Acharya, guest teachers and temporary non-teaching staff in the university’s constituent colleges at Hampankatta, Nelyadi, Bannadkka (Moodbidri), and Mangalagangotri, including the post-graduate center, have not received their salaries for the past two months. Furthermore, he highlighted that 18 guest teachers at the Chikkaluvara Post Graduate Centre and 43 guest teachers at Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, Madikeri, both under Mangalore University for the current academic year, have not been paid for the last five months. It is noteworthy that the colleges in Kodagu district are transitioning to the newly formed Kodagu University.
Mr. Acharya emphasized the university’s financial difficulties, noting its struggle to contribute to the provident fund accounts of teaching and non-teaching staff. He called for the State government’s intervention to rectify the financial situation, stating that the delayed salary payments have created difficulties for guest teachers and temporary non-teaching staff.
