Harish Poojary murder case: Another rightwing activist arrested

Mangaluru: The alleged mastermind behind the Harish Poojary murder case has been arrested. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to three.


The arrested is identified as Mithun Poojary (27), son of Narayana Poojary, a resident of Goltamajalu. Mithun is also a right wing activist, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa informed during a press meet at his office on Monday, November 30.

Mithun is a habitual offender. He is already facing a murder case, three attempt to murder cases and is accused in another eight cases, the SP said.

Following a communal clash on November 12, rightwing activists had allegedly murdered Harish Poojary thinking that he belonged to another community. His friend Samiulla had suffered stab injuries. Samiulla has been discharged from the hospital and is said to be recovering.

The police on November 19 arrested two prime accused from Mani.
