Mangaluru: The home minister has been urged to deploy a special Anti Narcotic Force to Dakshina Kannada to curtail the rampant drug menace in the district, stated MLC and Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet here, Ivan said that the Congress party condemned the brutal murder of Zubair in Ullal. Further, he said that BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, being a member of a nationalist party, should refrain from politicising the issue in the district which is sensitive and has returned to normalcy. Hence giving different colour to this incident would not be fair, he added.
“The police commissioner has assured of cracking the case and bring the culprits before the law. Three teams have been formed to crack this case,” said the minister.
The victim’s family needs to be adequately compensated, said Ivan adding, “Congress has always condemned such murders and violence. Necessary measures have always been taken by the government during such crisis.”
Defending minister U T Khader whose resignation is being demanded by the BJP leaders in the backdrop of Zubair’s murder, Ivan said, “Khader is a secular leader and one of the best ministers in the state. BJP has no morality to demand his resignation.”
