Mangaluru: ‘Milagres Career Expo-2017’, organised by Milagres College and Hotel Management College, Mangaluru, on Thursday, May 4, witnessed overwhelming response from the students.Professor Ronald Pinto, Director of Institute for Individual Development(IID) inaugurated the programme and said that degree alone was no more sufficient, while it is imperative now for students to hone upon their soft skills to be employable.
“To be employable, it is necessary for any candidate to possess good communication, leadership, analytical and computer skills along with academic knowledge. These are the qualities that more you have an edge over others. Unless you are armed with these qualities, your degrees hold no value,” he said adding that deciding the course of action after complete Pre-University College is a crucial step in everyone’s life and in contemporary scenario, with hosts of colleges offering array of degree courses, the confusion on ‘what next’ has only increased.
“‘Roti, Kapda and Makan are the most important aspect in every indidvidual’s life and to get these one needs to earn money. To earn money we need to get a job,” he said.
The career expo was organised to counsel students about the avenues that they can choose on completing their PUC and the students were enthusiastic about the event.
Administrator Fr Micheal Santhumayor welcomed the dignitaries. PTA president Ronald Pinto wished the students to excel in their career through this Milagres Career Expo.
