Mangaluru: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar has assured of providing “in-principle approval” for the proposed Plastic Park in Mangaluru, on the occasion of inaugurating the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana promotional campaign here at Town Hall on October 16.
“The proposed Plastic Park would ideally provide employment opportunity to 36,000 youths in Dakshina Kannada. Already, 36 entrepreneurs have come forward to start the project. A total of 90 acres of land has been identified for the project and additional 100 acre land for the same will be identified very soon,” he said.
On Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, the minister said that Karnataka stood first in the country in providing loans through Pradhan Mantri Mudra. In the country, 8.5 crore families have benefited through this programme and in Karnataka, over 27, 29,612 beneficiaries have already availed MUDRA loans, he claimed.
He also lauded MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for bringing in the highest amount of union government grants to the Dakshina Kannada district.
Ananth Kumar Hegde, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said that the people who had availed the loan through Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana should remember that the amount which was received through this scheme was not a grant but a loan and it should be repaid with responsibility.
He also said that being an union minister, he would support the setting up of an Entrepreneurship Centre in Mangaluru. “People of this region will be benefited if the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology engineering institution comes to Mangaluru. The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology will meet the demands of the Plastic Park”, he added.
He disclosed that Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar had been urged to start Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology in Mangaluru.
