Mangaluru: Labelling Islamic State (IS) as an anti-Islamic outfit, Vice-President of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyatul Ulema (SKJU) Syed Haidar Ali Shihab Thangal Panakkad said that there is no scope for terrorism and bloodshed in Islam and that IS was an outfit trying to defame the religion.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Samastha-90’, a mega convention organized on account of the 90th anniversary of SKJU at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday, December 13.
He urged the gathering, especially youth to abide by the principles laid by Quran and not to pay heed to the ones misinterpreting it. “Islam stands for peace and a true Muslim must always strive to maintain peace and tranquility. Though intolerance against minorities is on the rise, it is the duty of every Muslim to spread peace.”
Dakshina Kannada District In-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said that certain anti-social elements were trying to disrupt peace and harmony in the district in the name of religion. He gave a call to the Muslims to not entertain any such elements and always stay away from inciting violence.
General Secretary of Samastha Shaikhuna Zainul Ulama Cherusheri Zainuddin Musliyar presided over the programme. Sayyed Mohammed Jifri Muttukoya Tangal, Dr Bahauddin Nadvi Koriad, Mohammed Faizi, Nasser Faizi Koddatayi, Iqbal C P were present among others.
