The ISTD Mangalore / Udupi Chapter held its first offline meeting after many months of online meetings at the Wishva Konkani Kendra at Shaktinagar on Saturday, December 12, 2020. The meet saw a robust attendance of its local members.
Well-known chartered accountant, Giridhar Kamath, the resource person for the meet set the ball rolling by conducting a pre-meet outdoor ice breaker session. It was a fitting beginning to the meet’s keynote learning session ‘Tools for training activities’. He quoted from his experience of working with various groups of people including children and shared glimpses of his training activity and props library. He said, “while we must share our experiences and resources freely and learn from each other, each trainer must build his own activity library and find his own comfort levels in using them. Innovation based on the training audience is key to holding their interest and helping them learn”.
New Initiatives by the Chapter
The chapter has started a unique initiative of an entrepreneur minute, mentor minute, trainer minute, and academician minute by the members of these separately formed groups. These minutes were shared by CA MN Pai, Ms. Shivani Baliga, Ms. Sapna Shenoy, and Dr. Malini Hebbar respectively. These sub-groups are expected to provide a multi-dimensional platform for member interaction. It also acknowledges the varied needs of its chapter members and their talents.
The meeting chair Naveen Shetty ably conducted the meeting. Ms. Shwetha Pai introduced the resource person CA Giridhar Kamath and Ms. Sukanya Rao delivered the vote of thanks. The chapter secretary Ms. Preetham Kamath opened the meeting. Chapter President Nivedita Mirajkar provided context to the meet with her opening and closing remarks.
