Jesvita P. Quadras appointed to International Youth Advisory body at the Vatican

Mangaluru: 21-year-old Ms. Jesvita Princy Quadras from Mangaluru has been appointed as one of the members of the International Youth Advisory Body of the Vatican.

Those appointed members for the next three years hail from Guinea, Uganda, South Africa, USA, Canada, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Chile, Indonesia, India, Japan, Slovenia, Netherlands, Lebanon, Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, Italy, and Portugal.

These young people were involved in different phases of the Synod on Youth that took place in 2018. This included the International Youth Forum organized in June this year by the Dicastery to encourage the implementation of the apostolic exhortation “Christus vivit” (Christ is alive) where she took part.

Christus Vivit is a post-synodal apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis, written in response to the Fifteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, on young people, faith and vocational discernment held from October 3 to 28, 2018.

Background

It was on the occasion of the Solemnity of Christ the King on November 24, the Dicastery for the Laity, Family, and Life – the Vatican announced the establishment of an International Youth Advisory Body made up of 20 young people from different regions of the world and some international movements, associations and communities.

A special request was made in the final document of the 2018 Synod for the creation of an entity like this to reinforce the work being done by the Youth Office of the Dicastery.

The group will have an important consultative and proposal-making role to play. They will assist the Dicastery with issues related to youth ministry and other topics of more general interest.

The first meeting is scheduled for April 2020 in Rome.

About Jesvita

Ms. Jesvita Quadras hails from Mangaluru. She is a former national president of Young Catholic Students/ Young Students Movement YCS/YSM 2016-2019 and presently she is the National Coordinator of the students’ movement.

She did her schooling in St. Mary’s School and PUC in St. Agnes PU College. She completed her under graduation in Journalism, Psychology and English major at St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

Ms. Jesvita is the daughter of Mr. Vincent Quadras ad Mrs. Sharlet Quadras and sister of Jaison Quadras (1st PUC) who hail from Guardian Angel’s church, Angelore.
