Mangaluru: Former Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde has said that a memorial must be built for IPS officer Madhukar Shetty.
Hegde has said that the glorious and uncompromised career of Shetty must be narrated to all.
Pressing for a memorial, Justice Hegde said that he was ready to make financial support for the memorial. “I have been personally shocked by his death because I always thought that he was going to serve the nation for a very long time. He could never be lured into doing anything wrong or corrupt,” he said.
Recalling Shetty’s integrity as an officer, Justice Hegde said that when the government decided to give a site to Madhukar Shetty for being a part of the SIT in Veerappan case, Shetty refused to accept the site saying he is drawing a salary from the government for doing his duty.
