Mangaluru: KCCI on Friday, 28 April, 2023 organized a Seminar on the Importance of Documentation in Exports & Imports and New Foreign Trade Policy 2023 for the members of KCCI at its Meeting Hall. Most of the exporters, importers, Custom Housing Agents (CHAs), Chartered Accountants and Tax consultants attended the seminar.
KCCI President, M. Ganesh Kamath presented his welcome address. KCCI Hon. Treasurer, CA Abdur Rahman Musba introduced the speakers to the members present. The seminar was delivered by renowned speakers from Mumbai, Ajit Shah and Mihir Ajit Shah who are Consultants, Advisors and Trainers in International Business, Universal Connections, Mumbai.
Ajit Shah dwelled on the importance of correct documentation in export and import while Mihir Shah took the members through the update and changes in the New Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023. Mihir Shah while mentioning the 11 chapters in FTP 2023, emphasized on few new chapters being included which are Developing Districts as Export Hubs, Promoting Cross Border Trade in Digital Economy, SCOMET: Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies.
He said DGFT(Directorate General of Foreign Trade) is implementing the Niryat Bandhu Scheme for mentoring new and potential exporters on the intricacies of foreign trade through counselling, training and outreach programmes including the ‘District as Export Hubs’ initiative with ‘industry partners’, ‘knowledge partners’ and stakeholders to create vibrant Distrct-Product-Market relevant knowledge ecosystem.
Mihir Shah further mentioned about getting the Status Holder Certification, an export performance would be necessary for all three preceding financial years (and in both of the two preceding financial years for the Gems and Jewellery Sector).
The event witnessed the active participation of the members with their queries answered by the speakers. The vote of thanks was rendered by KCCI Hon. Secretary, Divakar Pai Kochikar.
