Belthangady: With the CM reaching New Delhi to discuss the cabinet rejig with Congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi, here in Belthangady, five-time MLA Vasanth Bangera has has spoken his heart out.

“During the elections the CM had promised me of a cabinet berth. It is time for him to fulfill the same,” Bangera said evincing possible rebellion if he is denied one this time.

In a press conference on Thursday, Bangera said that though the promise was made three years ago, the CM has not worked on it at all so far.

“I was elected from Belthangady Assembly segment for the first time in 1983. Since then I have sincerely worked for the people. Even I am an aspirant for cabinet berth because I deserve it,” he said adding that three-years-ago when he had decided not to contest the polls due to health reasons, it was Siddaramaiah who had called upon him personally and urged him to contest the polls.

“You have to contest because I know that you will win. With victories for the Congress, I will become the CM and I will ensure that you will get a cabinet berth,” Bangera reiterated the words of the CM spoken three-years-ago.

He said that being a leader from Billava community, he wants representation in the Cabinet.

“I will discuss this out with senior leader Kharge and Oscar Fernandes,” he said adding that he will leave to New Delhi on Thursday evening.
