Kota Poojary inaugurates founder’s day, college day gala at Srinivas University

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary recently informed that he would meet Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and discuss the granting of a special package for the comprehensive development of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district in the state budget. 

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the founder’s day and college day celebrations of Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Colleges. He also appreciated CA A Raghavendra Rao for his contribution to the education sector by setting up several colleges and Srinivas University, which is on par with the work done by a government. He expressed his wish that Srinivas University will become a model university in the state.

Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Selvamani R, the chief guest at the programme, advised the students to dream and have a systematic plan to achieve those dreams.

In his presidential address, CA A Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor of Srinivas University and President of the Srinivas Group of Colleges, advised the teachers to guide and encourage students like their own wards. He expressed his belief that employers will soon come in search of Srinivas University students to employ them in their organization. “The University has been set up to impart high quality education by spending crores of rupees. The University has several MoUs with multiple foreign Universities,” he said.

A Shama Rao memorial outstanding teacher of the year award was conferred on Dr. Raghavendra Rao, Sanskrit teacher, Padubidri Ganapathi High School, Padubidri and Kasturi, music teacher at SDM Mangala Jyothi High School, Vamanjoor, for their dedicated service as a teacher and for their innovative teaching practices.

A Shama Rao memorial award for outstanding achievement in social contribution was conferred on Girish Bharadwaj, a Social Worker often referred to as Sethu Bandhu and Bridgeman of India, for building around 127 low-cost and eco-friendly bridges in remote villages across India. He was given the award for his social work.

Staff members who had completed their PhD, published or presented papers in international journals and conferences were recognized on the occasion. More than 200 students who excelled in academics and extracurricular activities were also awarded on the occasion. The annual report of Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of colleges was also released.

Pro-Chancellor of Srinivas University Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Srinivas Group of Colleges Director Vijayalakshmi R. Rao, secretary Mitra S Rao, Vice-Chancellor Dr P S Aithal, registrar Dr Anil Kumar, Deans’ Dr Shrinivas Mayya D ( Evaluation), Dr Ajay (Development), convener of founders day Dr Manoj Varma and Meghana were present.
