Mangaluru: There is a law that prohibits drivers from using mobile phones while operating a vehicle. This rule applies to all drivers, including government bus drivers, who must adhere to the strict safety regulations while driving. However, government bus drivers seem to be disregarding these rules and are increasingly engaging in dangerous behavior while driving.

A recent incident in Mangaluru has drawn attention to this issue. The bus with registration number KA 32 F 2169, belonging to the KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation), was seen being driven recklessly by the driver in Kalburgi. He was not only driving but was also using his mobile phone, as shown in a video made by passengers. The video clearly shows the driver holding a mobile phone in one hand and the steering wheel in the other, posing a significant threat to the safety of passengers.

This incident is just one example of a growing problem where bus drivers, including government bus drivers, are seen using mobile phones while operating vehicles. In the video, the driver of the bus registered as KA 19 F 3467 travelling to Puttur from Mangaluru, which belongs to the KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation), is shown engaging in such behavior. Passengers have expressed their anger over the driver’s reckless actions, and they are concerned about the safety of their lives while commuting.

Using mobile phones while driving is not only illegal but also highly dangerous. It diverts the driver’s attention from the road, increasing the risk of accidents. Many countries have implemented strict penalties and fines for those caught using mobile phones while driving, in an effort to deter such behavior.

In India, road safety is a significant concern, and reckless behavior like this by bus drivers is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. It is essential for the authorities to enforce the rules and regulations strictly, especially for those responsible for the safety of a bus full of passengers.

Passengers have called for immediate action against drivers who engage in such dangerous behavior. They expect the authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all commuters and to hold drivers accountable for their actions. Safety on the roads should be a top priority, and it is crucial to deter mobile phone usage while driving for the well-being of all road users.
