Mangaluru: A little mind is creating wonders in the coastal city by planting saplings in order to find a solution to the acute water crisis that the district is facing.
Harni H R, a 7th grade student and her team “Green Warriors” have launched a mission of planting saplings in the city hoping for a cooler city. The members in the team are striving towards covering a green blanket on the city.
In an interaction with one of India’s news agencies, Harni said that this initiative was not only to plant saplings along the roadside, but it aims to have one plant for every house to combat global warming.
Explaining the process that she had begun she said that the initiative had begun just three years ago by creating awareness among her neighbours, explaining through charts.
She said that this initiative had initially begun with pocket money she got from her parents, but now her parents themselves are joining the initiative.
Harni and her team have till date planted around 200 saplings and now are taking care of the saplings as well.
