The locals smelling the gas emanating from the tanker immediately notified the authorities who immediately rushed fire tenders as well as intimated Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, HPCL, and Totalgaz units within the vicinity of the area to rush their emergency teams to the spot.

The power supply to the area was cut and Mescom officials too rushed to the spot. The extent of the damage if any untoward incident were to occur would have been huge considering the fact that nearly 15 gas laden tankers were parked near the vehicle that had reported leakage.
