Kasargod: Launching a tirade against the centre, Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan said that the centre has no interest in welfare of the endosulfan victims.
Addressing a programme organised to distribute special aid to endo victims, in Deputy Commissioner’s office premises in Kasargod on Thursday, Vijayan said that though the state had urged the centre to release a package of Rs 450 cr for the rehabilitation of the endo victims, the centre has not paid heed to the same so far.
The CM Said that the endo victims and their families will be included in the BPL list soon and these cards will be given to them at the earliest.
Citing that the endosulfan companies are pressurising the government, the CM said that the state government is committed to take care of the endo victims and there is no way that the government will compromise or shake hands with the endo companies.
“Medical camps will be conducted for the endosulfan victims during first week of April. Rs 1,000 will be given to the affected individuals from the government on account of Onam celebration,” he said speaking about other string of facilities that will be made available for the endo victims.
The programme was presided over by Revenue Minister E Chandrashekaran. Agriculture Minister V S Sunil Kumar, MP P Karunakaran, MLA N A Nellikunnu among others were present.
