Madrasa teacher’s murder: Police intensify investigations

Kasaragod: Police investigations on the murder of a Madrasa teacher at Halechoori in Battampare in the outskirts of the city on Tuesday, March 21, have gathered momentum.

A team led by Kannur Crime Branch Superintendent of Police Srinivas arrived at the crime spot to gather vital clues related to entry and exit of killers involved in the murder. It is believed that two persons were involved in the act and had used a motorbike to arrive and flee from the scene after committing the crime.

The team plans to take help from cyber cell and finger print experts as it failed to get evidence, it is gathered.

Police team comprises senior police officials from Mananthwadi, Mallapuram and other parts of Kerala. Police have registered nine cases in the aftermath of untoward incidents in Kasaragod and surrounding areas that took place on March 21 after the murder. Four people were arrested and 18 people have been taken into preventive custody.

A bandh call was given by the Muslim League to protest the killing on Tuesday, March 21 from 6 am to 6 pm within Kasaragod Assembly constituency which led to several untoward incidents.

It may be recalled, the dead body of the deceased, Riyaz (34) a native of Madikeri, was found in a pool of blood with his throat slit in the apartment provided to him by the mosque.
