Malpe Beach Kite Festival to take off on December 31 – DC Priyanka Mary Francis

Udupi: District Administration and Malpe Development Committee have decided to host ‘Malpe Beach Kite Festival’ on December 31 between 10 am to 12.30 am.

Speaking to media persons in Udupi, on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said that 30 professional kite flyers will be participating in the one-day event, which will have two categories-namely the day kite flying and the LED night flying.

The highlight of the event will be the participation of  FLY 360 team, which will come with 30 to 40 different kites to enthrall the audience. Indian Flag in one string, 2-3 big round spinner kites, Tiger Shaped 3D kite, Teddy bear shaped 3D kite, 3D transformer, 3D Heart shape, Ladybug kite, 3D Rabbit kite, 3D Trilo bite kite, 3D Panda shape kite, 3D Ashoka chakra kite, 3D Frog kite, 3D 110 Feet long Snake kite, 3D Santa Claus, 3D Octopus kite, 3D Fish kite, 3D Dragon kite and Different design LED Kites and many more can be seen at the event by the FLY 360 team. The DC said that modern kite-making workshop will be held by FLY 360 between 11 am to 12.30 pm and next batch after lunch from 3 pm to 4.30 pm.

The DC also said that professional flyers will start flying day flying kites from 10 am in the morning. There will be a break for lunch for an hour in the afternoon at around 1 pm. After the lunch break, flyers will continue to fly kites till 5.30 pm to 6 pm. After sunset, the LED night kite flying will begin and the same will go on till 8 pm.

Priyanka Mary Francis said that an array of the cultural programme will be held from 5.30 pm to 12 pm. Other attraction of Malpe Beach Kite festival will be food stalls, water sports, and various games to be held.

One of the latest awards won by them was handed over to them by PM of India Narendra Modi at Gujarat International Kite festival. Award won was for designing a miniature kite which was one and a half inch which flew graciously. The team has made its entry into Limca Book of Records for successfully conducting modern kite making workshop for 1017 participants in one sitting. An artificial diamond studded Lord Krishna kite of this team has been exhibited at World Kite Museum, Washington D.C. Another such kite of Lord Ganesh is at the World kite museum, Turkey.
