‘Seventh pay commission should be implemented by March’

Mysuru: If state government fails to implement seventh pay commission for state government employees by March-end, the money will get lapsed and go back to central government, said District Minister GT Devegowda.

Speaking after inaugurating two-day district-level state government employees’ sports meet at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here on Wednesday, he said, “The discussion on implementation of seventh pay commission was also held during a just-concluded session in Belagavi. If we fail to implement the seventh pay commission by March, it will get lapse and the money will go back to the central government”. On the occasion, on behalf of state government and people of Kodagu, he also thanked all the state government employees for giving their one day salary, which summed up to Rs 102 crore for the welfare of Kodagu flood victims.

“Participation is more important than winning. Sports help individual to have good health and hence I call upon all the participants to continue actively in sports” added GT Devegowda.

During the two days meet more than 1500 participants from all the seven taluks, including nearly 700 women are expected to take part. In the individual event, those who secure first and second place and in group event those who secure first place will be qualified to take part in the state level sports, which will be held in Mysuru in January last week. Apart from sports meet, cultural competition is also held at Indoor Stadium.
Abhiram Shankar, Deputy Commissioner, K Suresh, Assistant Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports were also present on the occasion.
