Karkala: A man, accused of having launched a murderous assault on his wife and mutilating her was nabbed by Udupi police from the Bhatkal railway station on Tuesday, February 6.
The arrested, Santhosh Poojary had gone absconding after attacking his wife, Anushree on January 27 evening, when she was returning to home from work. Anushree’s hands and legs were mutilated in the deadly assault.
Differences had arisen between the couple only within a year of their marriage and hence Anushree had returned to her home town here and was contemplating divorcing Santhosh. It is believed that Santhosh was miffed by this and hence carried out the attack.
Since Santhosh was working in Mumbai a search team had been sent there but it failed to get any cues on his whereabouts. Later the cops tracked his mobile phone location to Bhatkal and a team led by Udupi DCIB inspector Sampath Kumar nabbed him from here.
The police will produce him in court today.
