Mangaluru: Mangalore University, which has, in all the past years, lived up to its good name,, has now sadly proved to be following dishonest ways with its recent involvement in the Kolar Chikkaballapur District Milk Producers Union Limited scam, which has gone to an extent that it recently saw a raid.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on raiding some of the University’s offices, seized documents that clearly showed that the University has brought on its own disgrace with its involvement in a scam that is worth crores of Rupees, all for its own selfish motives, which is sad for a university that has for so long, bringing in students from other parts of the globe too.
In fact, the University’s involvement in the scam has not just affected its reputation but its grades too. The NAAC now gives the University a B. The University had also recently failed to declare its results on time, obviously leading to stress among students, who took to protesting on the streets, saying that they were made to wait for years to receive their test results.
The staff of the University also seem to be unhappy, with the recent complaint that some of them weren’t paid properly.
In the light of all these grievances, Mangalore City South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, now states the need for a comprehensive probe into the case, to punish all those involved in tarnishing the University’s good name.
