Mangaluru: Car-scooter Collision, hotel employee dies

Mangaluru: A scooter rider was killed when a car collided head-on with a bike at Manjanadi Kalkatta under Konaje Police staytion limits.The rider was working in a hotel and also as a food deliver boy.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar (41), a resident of Calicut, who was staying in a rented house in Santhoshnagara, Kuttaru. He worked as a delivery boy and later in the evening at a private hotel in Deralakatte.

 

At around 11.00 pm, he was on his way from Manjanady with a food delivery order when the car, which was coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on with the bike. The Kerala-registered car driven by Aboobacker Siddique rammed into Anil’s scooter and throwing it on to the compound of a house, later falling on the road. Anil sustained serious head injuries.

The injured was rushed toba private hospital in Deralakatte in the same car in which the accident took place. Shajid G. M. and Hasan, the owners of the hotel, took Anil to another private hospital in Deralakatte for further treatment. He died at around 1.45 pm.

Anil had taken the delivery from the hotel at Deralakatte and had called the people who had ordered food. When he called he had told the customer to come out as he was waiting outside. It was just then the accident happened. The party who had placed the order heard the sound of the accident and called Anil, but he did not receive the cal. As a result, the customer who had ordered food called hotel owner and informed about the accident.

Expressing grief over the death of a colleague, three hotels in front of a private hospital in Deralakatte were closed for the entire day. Anil Kumar’s mother had died a few months ago.

Hotel owner Sajid had searched a girl for Anil to marry as he was alone. Anil Kumar, who had gone to temples in Calicut on Wednesday February 8, returned to the hotel last evening and had returned to duty. Delivery boys and hotel owners arranged for an ambulance to perform the last rites of the deceased in his home town.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station.
