Mangaluru: Check bounce case, Rs 5.7L fine imposed

Mangaluru: The Bantwal Court has imposed a fine of Rs 5,72,800 on an accused in a cheque bounce case for not repaying a loan taken from Bantwal Taluk Primary Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank. The order was imposed on the fine.

Krishnappa Poojary, a resident of Palottu in Vamadapadavu, is an accused in the case who had taken a loan from Bantwal PLD Bank and did not repay it. His cheque presented to the bank was also invalid. The bank registered a case against the accused and the Bantwal Civil Judge Senior Division and JMFC Court, which conducted the trial, imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 on him. The Court also ordered him to pay the remaining amount to the bank.

Shivprakash Jain had argued on behalf of the bank.
