Mangaluru: The State Government is considering allowing 18-year-olds to buy liquor. We strongly condemn this move of the BJP Government,” said Deputy Leader of Opposition U. T. Khader in the City.
“This is a move that is going to destroy a generation. They have not been able to empower the youth and give jobs to the youth. The BJP Government does not know the consequences, it is just after making money,” he said.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said, “Should they run the Government by suggesting the youth to be alcoholic now. Criminal activities in the society are caused by drinking alcohol and cannabis. Video games and skill games are being played everywhere in Mangaluru. Instead of going to school, children are playing skill games,” he alleged.
“No mother can tolerate this work of the BJP. People like Veerendra Heggade are ampaigning against liquor, while those who sit in power are bringing in a law to destroy the people,” he noted.
He said that the Government should immediately drop the idea and withdraw the decision.
