Mangaluru: A massive protest by the land owners will be held in front of the PD Office of the National Highways Department at Nanthoor in the City against the several issues on Tuesday March 7 at 11.00 am.

The protest is staged against the delay policy of not implementing the favourable ruling of the High Court on the writ petitions of Sanur, Padumarnadu and Puttige villages, and thus going back to arbitration, corruption in Highway Department, 40% commission, cheating farmers in terms of compensation by dividing them into converted and agricultural land and frequent changing of the alignment of the highway to their advantage.

The protest is also against the construction of two new bridges, thus traversing unnecessarily five kms more, GST deduction even though GST not applicable while compensating for land acquisition, and delaying the land acquisition process without giving 3A notification in some villages.

The protestors alleged that the private company is against motorists falling prey to accidents without taking proper precautionary measures during road construction.
