Mangaluru: The body of a school boy, a resident of Mittabailu near B.C. Road, who went missing on Saturday afternoon, was found in a lake at Kuppila in Kallige village late on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Azeem (13), a class 8 student of a private English medium school on B C Road, son of abdul razzaq, a local resident.

On Saturday afternoon, the boy had come to his grandmother’s house in Panemangalore and was there with his friends when the neighbours noticed him, but he suddenly went missing after noon.
It is said that the family tried hard to contact the boy but were unsuccessful. As the boy’s mobile phone was ringing but the call was not accepted, the family lodged a missing person’s complaint at bantwal city police station.

Acting on a tip-off, the police traced the boy’s mobile phone and found a search near the lake in Kallige village and found the boy’s clothes, footwear and mobile phone at the top of the lake. The boy’s body was later found late at night during a search in the lake.

The body was lifted from the water and taken to the mortuary of bantwal government hospital. The police are continuing the investigation.
