Mangaluru: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council B. K. Hariprasad said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is proving to be a coward. He is behaving like a coward without being given an answer for the questions asked by Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. We will fight against it legally and politically, both inside and outside Parliament,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said, “No action has been taken against those who called for genocide in this Country, and those who said they will cut legs, heads and drive them to Pakistan..Instead of the ruling parties taking suo motu cognisance of the matter and taking action, the question arises as to whether the law is not uniform for the all and to do so only to Congress. They have not taken action to justify the killing of Mahatma Gandhi. The speech made during the elections seems to be outrageous to them,” he said.

“I don’t know how it is wrong to call a thief as thief. At least 180 people, including 80 children, were killed in the Morbi Bridge tragedy in Gujarat, but no action has been taken or arrested. I was a witness to the tragedy there. Prime minister Modi is going in an autocratic manner, Rahul has flouted democratic policies in the name of his speech, he was disqualified a day after the Surat Court’s order.
The question arises as to how much fear there is, to what extent it is legally correct to be disqualified from the Lok Sabha, even though the Court has suspended its order for a month. The disqualification of a senior leader of a political party in this manner is a testimony to the dictatorial behaviour,” he said.

“If Rahul Gandhi asks a question in Parliament, they turn off the mic. So, is it wrong for the Congress to ask for a JPC or not that Adani has looted it? He was not accused of corruption, but because of his election speeches as a measure of revenge,” he said and Hariprasad added that switching off the mic in the Lok Sabha is a sign that democracy has been subverted.

When asked why the Congress did not approach the Court when such a situation arose and why it did not directly take action against the BJP Leaders for their outrageous statements, he said, “We will go to the common man’s Court, it is not our habit to file a Court case against someone and harass them.”

“The Bilkis Bano case is a testimony to the status of the Gujarat court. 14 people have raped and killed a child, but the court will acquit them all as innocent. This is a testimony to the manner in which the Court of Gujarat is,” he said.
